Mile Building Sail From Palma to Tenerife
Three Weeks Sailing Aboard a Sun Odyssey 519 to the Canary Islands
13th October to 3rd November, 2018
This will be a unique sailing adventure starting in Palma de Mallorca with our final destination Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The boat is a Sun Odyssey 519 (2018) so it's basically brand new. It has 5 cabins - two large double cabins aft and 2 smaller double cabins forward. I'll take the skippers cabin amidships.
We leave on Saturday, 13th Oct and can take up to 3 weeks to complete the trip although I expect just over 2 weeks to be more likely. The idea is to have a few stops along the way in Gibraltar as well as Morocco before heading west to the Canaries.
A stopover on the tiny island beach paradise of La Graciosa would be mandatory. I've been there before and it's too nice to sail past. There are also some great places to visit as we run down the coast of Lanzarote.
I'm looking at having 6 crew so we can run 3 hours on, 6 hours off in pairs. For those that want to do a qualifying passage as skipper, we will look at various legs where you can take on that responsibility.
It will be three weeks of sailing and exploring the food, wine and culture of various stopover points along the way.
Mile Building Opportunity
If you are looking to build up some blue water miles for your Day Skipper or Yachtmaster qualification, this trip will be ideal for you. Distance is approximately 1400M and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to practice your sailing skills, navigation, pilotage and ColRegs.
In terms of cost, there would be two options.
- A forward cabin (with ensuite) on your own at a cost of 1800€ or
- Sharing one of the larger aft cabins on a twin share basis for 1200€ per person.
- We would run a kitty onboard to cover food provisioning, fuel, mooring fees, etc.
Crewed Cabin Charter Inclusions
- Standard double (twin share) or single occupancy cabin with private en-suite
- Informal sailing tuition
- Non-alcoholic drinks
